John Macleod, Year 8 writes:
On the 16th April Year 8 travelled to London for a trip to the Science Museum .
After a long coach journey we were all ready for something engaging, fun and
interesting. The first thing we did was get warmed up in the opening
exhibitions: Making the Future and A Life in Space. We took a journey through
past inventions which have contributed to our life today, such as the first
steam locomotive, and a trip through past adventures building an appetite for
even greater ones in the future. We also became very lucky to take part in a
code building workshop. Here we learnt
how to programme a robot to make his own decisions to get round a maze. After
being revived with lunch we finally took part in the most interactive exhibit
ever, Launch Pad. We spent an hour here seeing the science in action. My favourite exhibit was a hologram of a
watch, where reflections of light made a 3D image of the watch appear in front
of your eyes. This is just a single example of the amazing stuff there. We
arrived back at school at 4pm, all exhausted after an amazing day out.
And some Year 8 quotes about their experiences of the day:
"I enjoyed the Interactive Zone"
"Learning all the different things was amazing"
"I liked looking around all the different artifacts of science"
"Science was everywhere"
"You couldn't turn around without learning something new!"
