The total amount raised was £480 and 180 books were read in two weeks by the 34 participating Year 7 students.
Chantal Camara raised the amazing amount of £80 - the most ever raised by a student.
Hattie Silverman read the most books - 28 in two weeks.
Well done to these two students who were each awarded a book token. And well done to all those who took part and raised so much money for such a worthwhile cause - Readathon is the UK ’s
national sponsored reading event, encouraging children to read for pleasure,
while raising money for three children’s charities: ReadWell, which provides
books and storytelling to children in hospital; CLIC Sargent, giving support to
children and young people with cancer and their families; and Roald Dahl’s
Marvellous Children’s Charity, which helps seriously ill and disabled
children. Since 1984, Readathon has
raised more than £25 million and has helped encourage millions of children to
read more books.
The students who took part in Readathon all received a certificate in their assembly today and can be seen in the photo.
