The Science department took 58 Year 9 students to the annual Big Bang Fair at the South of England Showground in Ardingly along with more than 5,000 other 9 - 19 year olds. The students had the opportunity to be involved in an engineering workshop where they were challenged with building a balloon hotel to specific design requirements. Josh Stanway, Jodie Payne and Ben Carpin were all in the winning team! The students also enjoyed a day of exciting and fun-filled shows, interactive displays and hands-on workshops all aimed at inspiring them to consider the varied opportunities and careers that studying STEM subjects can open up to them. We also bumped into an old Chailey student, Tim Lawrence, who was showcasing a 3D printer he had built himself. Very inspiring!
