The Science Department took 58 Year 9 students to the Big Bang Science Fair at the South of England Showground last Tuesday. It was an excellent day with over 100 interactive stalls and activities for the students to take part in. Our Year 9 students were amazing on the day, getting involved in all that the Fair had to offer and picking up plenty of freebies.

Big Bang Science
Show
There were a wide
range of different activities to do and things to see. For example, there were
demonstrations of recent technology, such as Raspberry Pi, which is a credit
card sized computer, capable of all kinds of things. There was an opportunity
to get close with nature, and visit the reptile tent, in which we held boa
constrictors and other snakes and reptiles. As well as that, there was a piece
of technology which could be controlled by concentration, and two people could
compete to see who was concentrating more. There was a fireworks show which
taught us how fireworks are made and the different uses of them. Also, there
were fun things to do such as play computer games with fruit as controllers and
bounce bubbles off our hands.
