Last week the Science
department took twelve students to the Stem Sussex Robotics Challenge at
the Ricardo Engineering Centre in Shoreham. We had a tour of the
centre where the highlight was watching Maclaren engines being made. The
students then had to design and build their own robot to compete in a number of
challenges, including robot football and robot wars.
Every
group did amazingly well and our robots were definitely the best in the battle
at the end. Kess Rowe, Ashley Bishop,
Greg Pearson and Tim Jenkins-Gilbert won the prize for the best design and they were awarded with an impressive
trophy. Not bad considering there were 18 other teams from schools across
Sussex .
